Gunner Kiel made national headlines when he committed to in-state school Indiana, but quickly jumped ship after remembering that IU's football program is a disaster. Not too long after, he gave his verbal pledge to LSU.
Over the weekend, rumors began swirling that Kiel was going to renege on his pledge to LSU and likely end up choosing to play his college ball at Notre Dame. Perhaps he got a good look at LSU's inept offensive scheme and didn't want any part of that. Or, he realized that SEC defenses are no joke. Actually, according to this, the biggest factor was his mother. Aww, that's sweet.
Now it is "official" (can't be 100% until signing day, I suppose) - Gunner Kiel has enrolled at Notre Dame.

Quite the saga. LSU can't care too much---it is not like they know how to use a good QB anyhow. This will be particularly tough for IU fans, as many of us generally root for ND football and even those that don't can't escape hearing about it. Now we will have the regular reminder that we will never be a football program that can attract top-tier talen; even in our own backyard.
